Scholarships, death and the government

Journal Entry: Mon Apr 14, 2008, 10:31 AM
I am currently trying to find money to go back to school. I have learned a few lessons about life since I left ISU. My problem is that I can not file the fafsa, my parents refuse to give me their information, and I know that once I get to school, there really wont be any family contribution. The problem is I do not qualify for too many scholarships. I don't qualify for much in the way of aid. I work full time and maintain a 3.8 gpa, aren't I the type of person that our government should be investing in? I can't even get a Stafford loan because I can not file the FAFSA. You may ask yourself, what degrees make you worthy of aid? Well I have stuck my hand in and found that the degree I want the most would be a Doctoral degree in Genetics and cellular biology. My game plan is to finish my AA at the local college Columbia Basin College, then to transfer to Washington State University in Pullman as it offers what I want to take, as well as being affordable for a four year institution. After I get my BA in Genetics I plan on applying to, and getting in to, Yale. Yale has an amazing post graduate program for genetics. While Yale only accepts approximately 30, if even, new students a year into the Genetics program, I will get in. What makes me so certain you may ask, well, I have a strong sense of determination and an indomitable will. I am smart, and plan on reaching my goals.
Now there are a lot of scholarships out there as well as aid. I however am a 21 year old, white girl, from upper middle class America. I'm not a first generation college student, no real military ties, no disabilities, no club connections. Do you see my problem? So what i am looking for is a way to earn money to go to school.

I've just moved back to Idaho from Phoenix and I realy don't know anyone here anymore. I was wondering if you still lived hereabouts.
